Resolutions of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec in favour of Irish Home Rule

Mr Carbray moved, seconded by Mr. McShane, and the Question being proposed,
That whereas the right of self Government is sacred to the Canadian people and whereas they believe and know, from actual experience, that constitutional Government brings strength, peace, union and prosperity to the nation.
Be it Resolved,
That this House, always sensible to everything tending to the greater welfare, progress and happiness of every section of the Empire, desires to record its warm appreciation and great pleasure on the initiation in the Imperial Parliament, of legislation of a character to give a local government to Ireland.
Resolved, That this House regards with great satisfaction and sympathy the noble efforts of the Right Honorable W. E. Gladstone to peacefully solve the problem of Home Rule in Ireland without disintegrating the Empire.
Resolved, That the Speaker of this House be directed to communicate a copy of these Resolutions to the Right Honorable W. E. Gladstone.
Mr. Speaker informed the House that he had received from the Right Honorable W. E. Gladstone, the following Telegraphic dispatch which was read; and ordered to be entered in the Journals of this House, as follows:

From London,
I have received with deep gratification your telegram informing me of the resolution unanimously adopted by the Legislative Assembly of Quebec in support of the measure now before Parliament for the future Government of Ireland. I am also writing to you my acknowledgements.
